NEWS: Please welcome new PBCLA member Amanda Sarra!

Amanda grew up in the “City of Pure Water,” Zephyrhills, Florida. She is a graduate of the University of Florida and the University of South Florida.  Prior to her library career, Amanda was a zookeeper and an animal trainer, working with species ranging from alligators to zebras.  However, despite all the exotic animals that she worked with, goats are quite possibly her favorite.  Amanda became interested in librarianship while working at Disney’s Animal Kingdom; it is home to a superb library which provides keepers, educators and veterinarians with much-needed information on animals’ natural histories.

Amanda has been employed by Everglades University since December 2007, first as the Boca Raton Campus Librarian and, more recently, as the Director of Library Services for all campuses.  She enjoys helping on campus and online students with library research and APA format and building the library collection of alternative medicine, aviation, business and construction management resources. In her free time Amanda loves to read, watch movies, teach Jazzercise classes, and look after her five cats—Myla, Dutch, Modoc, Madison, and Mufasa.
