Calling all SE Florida Librarians

Next Thursday, July 30 at the Kovens Conference Center on the Florida International University Biscayne Bay campus, over 250 librarians from SE Florida will gather for the annual SEFLIN Regional conference. This year's conference titled "New Technologies: Libraries and Beyond" will feature Marshall Breeding, Director for Innovative Technologies and Research for the Vanderbilt University Libraries as its keynote speaker. I will be one of the many librarians in attendance and am looking forward to providing you all with an update afterwards. This will be my first SEFLIN conference and know it will be a wonderful learning opportunity.

Twitter anyone?

Hello all,
I am excited about having the opportunity to blog on this site. Like it said in my profile, I'm a librarian at Lynn University. Part of my job at Lynn is outreach. I have incorporated a variety of tools not only to promote Lynn but also to be in touch with other libraries. Twitter is a tool I've been using to keep in touch with other librarians and libraries. If you're not familiar with twitter, it is a microblog site where entries are limited to 140 characters. Registration is free and subscribers can personalize their profile. Users "tweet" as they wish and follow other twitterers. PBCLS has incorporated the tool on their website and I am one of their followers. Its a new way to stay connected to a commmunity we all care about and connect to others with similar interests. You can easily set up an account at www.twitter.com and then choose to follow PBCLS from their home page at www.pbclibrary.org. My twitter name is susanmont. Hope to see you twittering about.
